Preemie-L Recommended Products

When your baby is very premature, you'll often find that standard birth announcements, clothes and baby products don't fit your needs.

This page provides links to the some of the many products available for prematurely born babies. The products on this page are ones used and most often recommended by our families.

Birth announcements

For premature baby birth announcements, check out the NICU Series : Especially for Parents designed by Shelly and Scott Barsuhn at http://www.nicuseries.com/parents.html#premature

These announcements were designed specifically for preemies. There's room for gestational age, etc. Also, there's a card for multiples where you can add any number of baby figures inside -- even an angel baby for little ones who have died.

Baby Carrier

Parents can use the Weego® Preemie Soft Baby Carrier starting in the hospital with babies as little as three pounds. It's then a wonderful and familiar transition to home and expands to accommodate a child up to 30 pounds.

Neonatal personnel find the carrier an effective tool for helping parents re-establish the parent-child attachment after a long period of nursery care. Carried in the enface position (with baby on the adult's chest) the infant shares the rhythmic movement and body warmth of the caregiver. The Weego®Preemie promotes tactile communication and enhances the caregiver's responsiveness to the infant's physical and emotional needs.
